American Red Cross Blood Drive

May is Trauma Awareness Month, and donors of all blood types – especially type O – are needed to help ensure hospitals are prepared the moment trauma patients and others arrive.

Every unit of blood donated can help save up to three lives. Each recipient of that blood donation has his or her own story. He or she could be an accident or trauma victim, cancer patient, a mother giving birth, a premature baby, a transplant recipient or surgical candidate. Our impact goes beyond that patient – it is multiplied by the impact it has on that person’s loved ones who are thankful for the unit donated.

The Red Cross is following very strict protocol due to Covid-19. All Red Cross staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves at all times and following all CDC guidelines. Anyone with a temperature over 99.5 will not be allowed to donate blood at this time.

If you are not in the Charleston area, find your nearest Red Cross location.
